Social Concerns
The Social Concerns Committee focuses principally on outreach to the homeless and to providing food for the hungry.
Each winter, our parish hosts a number of homeless people for a week in our hall, in cooperation wtih Georgetown Ministries. There is always a good response from the people of the parish who provide the food for the week. We also assist with the week for homeless at St. Paul's Episcopal Parish.During Advent and Lent, we sponsor food drives, to which our parishioners give a generous response.
Money collected in the poor box is distributed mostly to agencies which provide help to the poor, and we do give directly to some individuals in need.
