Sacrament of the Sick

Before the Second Vatican Council, the sacrament of the anointing of the sick was called Extreme Unction, because it was generally administered for those who were dying. The Council restored the practice of the early church which regarded the sacrament as a source of healing and strength in the face of serious illness. If you are seriously ill or facing surgery, or if you suffer from chronic illness, or if you are suffering the effects of old age, you may receive the sacrament of the anointing. Please call the rectory to make an appointment for the celebration of the sacrament.
