Catholic Relief Services carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas.
"I would like to ask you all to see a ray of hope as well in the eyes and hearts of refugees and of those who have been forcibly displaced." - Pope Francis
Behind the refugee crisis are people. Children, mothers and families who were forced to leave their homes because of ongoing violence and fear. Our brothers and sisters around the world face uncertainty and are desperately seeking refuge. Catholic Relief Services has assisted 1.25 million Syrian refugees in the Middle East and Europe. Working with and for them, we get to know them, learning not only about the fear and terror they fled, but also their hopes and dreams for a peaceful future. Many Americans believe that closing our doors to these innocent men, women and children is the way to protect our nation. Our experience shows that is not the case. We ask you to meet six Syrian refugees, who once lived in Syria, enjoying their families and thriving in fulfilling jobs, but now face only uncertainty. They deserve our compassion rather than our fear. To help you can visit: http://www.crs.org/media-center/syrian-refugee-crisis-7-things-you-can-do-help
