.....This is the first sacrament of Christian life, the sacrament of rebirth by water and the spirit in which we pass from sin and death into new life. In the sacrament of baptism, we use God's gift of water, a rich symbol of his grace and unseen power. From the new beginning of goodness after the great flood, to the freedom God bestowed on his people having led them through the waters of the Red Sea, to the waters of the Jordan in which Christ himself was symbolically baptized by St. John, water means new life!
