Holy Week Schedule

Friday, April 12th 

- 6:00pm: Stations of the Cross

- 6:30pm: Simple Supper of Soup and Bread and a showing of the movie The Passion of the Christ in The Crystal Room at Foggy Bottom

 

April 13th, 2019 from 10 AM to 5 PM: 7 Church Walk. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

The visit at St Stephen will be at 4pm. Students from GW will participate.  DCCatholic invites all young adults (20s and 30s) to the 16th

Annual 7 Church Walk (#7ChurchWalk)! Join hundreds of young adults for our annual Lenten pilgrimage as we continue a Roman tradition in DC. We walk to seven historic downtown D.C. churches and pray together at each station.

 

Palm Sunday, April 14

- MASSES : Saturday Vigil 5:30pm;  Sunday 9:00am; 12:30pm & 5:30pm

- 10:30am Blessing of Palms & Ecumenical Procession with St. Paul’s. From Washington Circle;  Mass at 11:00 AM. (Please try to join us)

- 1:30pm Procession of palms from St. Stephen Martyr to Inspire Rehabilitation Center (the nursing home with in our Parish), sponsored by the International Catholic Lay Group; Sant’Egidio.

- 2:00 to 3:30 pm Distribution of palms and prayer with elderly friends at Inspire

 

Wednesday, April 17

- 6:30 to 7:30 pm Evening Prayer of the Martyrs with Sant’ Egidio.

- 7:30 to 8:00 pm Introduction of Holy Week with Community of Sant’Egidio in the Crystal Room

 

Holy Thursday, April 18

- 8:00am: Morning Prayer – Lauds

- 11:00am to Noon: Confessions

- 5:30 to 6:15 pm  In Imitation of Christ: Washing of the Feet of the Disciples. A traditional part of Rome’s Sant’Egidio’s Holy Thursday  (Crystal Room)

- 6:30pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper in the Church. Pastor’s Washing of the Feet Ceremony, Adoration of the Blessed Sacramnt until 10:00 pm

 

Good Friday, April 19

- 8:00am: Morning Prayer – Lauds

- 10:00 am  Walk the Way of the Cross in Washington, D.C. The international Catholic  movement Communion and Liberation will sponsor the   Way of the Cross through downtown Washington, D.C The procession will follow the cross from St. Stephen Martyr  to stations at Farragut Square, Franklin Square, and Freedom Plaza and will end with a final station at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (619 10th St. NW), which will begin around 1:00 pm. At each station, there will be readings from the Passion, a meditation, and hymns. All are invited. For more information, please visit www.wayofthecrossdc.com

- 12:10pm: Stations of the Cross at St. Stephen Martyr

- 3:00pm “The Triumph of Darkness”. Musical meditation on the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ with Veneration of the Cross

- 5:30pm Celebration of the Lords Passion. With Reading the Passion, Veneration of the Cross and  Holy Communion

- 6:30 to 8 pm Preparation of food for those experiencing homelessness and Stations of the Cross and food distribution through Foggy Bottom/Dupont Circle neighborhood with the Community of Sant’Egidio (starting at 1407 21st St NW and ending at St. Stephen’s)

Until 10 pm Open silent prayer at the Sepulcher of Jesus at St. Stephen Martyr

 

Holy Saturday, April 20

- 8:00am: Morning Prayer – Lauds

- 10 am to Noon Reflection with the Community of Sant’Egidio (and light lunch) in the Crystal Room

- 11:00am to Noon: Confessions

- 8:00pm The Great Vigil of Easter beginning with the Lighting of the Pascal Candle and candlelight procession from outdoors.

 

Easter Sunday, April 21

- 9:00 am and 11:00 am Solemn Mass with St. Stephen’s Choir

- 12:30 pm Easter Mass with the El Shaddai Choir

- 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sant’Egidio Celebration of Easter with elderly friends at Inspire

 

ON EASTER, THERE IS NO 5:30PM SUNDAY MASS AT ST. STEPHEN MARTYR
